It’s long been one of the city’s most stylish eateries, The Pawn from celeb chef Tom Aikens mixes the casual style of a British pub with acclaimed cuisine that won him 2 Michelin stars. The three floor dining space is divided between a first floor bar with mixology menu and second floor dining room with a smart, modish vibe open for brunch, lunch and dinner. On the roof is an elaborate terrace and garden with as much sorrel, nasturtium, fennel, figs, peas and cherry tomatoes grown that the Hong Kong weather allows.
The Food
Open for lunch and dinner, meals begin with a list of starters from homemade ricotta wit aged balsamic to salt cod or single-hook tuna tartare with wasabi. Main course is a thoroughly expat affair with braised short rib with miso, lamb loin with raisins or poached John Dory with turnips best ordered with a heap of macaroni and cheese topped with lobster, ham or truffle.
Last Word
Three-level lounge bar, eatery and rooftop by Tom Aikens proves to be one of the best meals in Hong Kong.
